〰〰〰 About

  • ArtsKC, Charlotte Street, and the Hall Family Foundation are requesting proposals for capacity-building support for arts-engaged, small organizations (annual budget at or below $500,000) located or serving Northeast Wyandotte, KS; Northeast Kansas City; and/or Kansas City East Side that represent a broad swath of art forms, offering accessible programming to our community.

  • Selected organizations will represent diverse artistic disciplines and forms of social engagement and must provide accessible programming for communities in the geographic areas of the Historic Northeast, Eastside Kansas City, and Northeast Wyandotte County.
    • Fifteen arts organizations will receive $15,000 in unrestricted funding per year for two years.
    • The Creative Confluence Fund will provide capacity-building assessments, subject matter experts, and project implementation support (value of up to $10,000 per year per organization).
    • Grantees will be expected to work with ArtsKC and Charlotte Street staff to carry out their capacity-building initiatives as well as share learnings with other awardees in a cohort model, which may include artist awardees as well.
    • Documentation, evaluation, and/or presentations on projects will be required.

  • This project seeks to build organizations’ long-term viability, including growing community engagement, stabilizing finances and personnel, identifying and resolving organizational needs, strategic planning, developing evaluation metrics and competencies, or other identified priorities.

    • Jury will meet in December, 2026 and January, 2027
    • Grant decisions announcements will be in late January 2027

〰〰〰 Eligibility

  • Be a registered not-for-profit arts-engaged organization (or fiscally sponsored)

     

  • Have an annual budget at or below $500,000

     

  • Be principally located in or serving one of the following geographic areas:
    • Historic Northeast Kansas City
    • Eastside of Downtown Kansas City
    • Northeast Corner of Wyandotte County

       

  • Have a governing body with bylaws

     

  • Have at least one year of financial records and established history of programming

〰〰〰 Evaluation

  • Committee Members are selected for their artistic knowledge and experience, awareness of community needs and issues, and other contributing factors. Each application will be reviewed online and discussed by the committee virtually or in person. The committee will consider:
    • Creative and Programmatic Achievements
    • Neighborhood and Community Impact
    • Financial Management and Sustainability
    • Capacity Building Need and Potential

  • Additionally in the second year, ArtsKC will provide project implementation support (value of up to $10,000 per organization).

〰〰〰 Grant Expectations

  • If your organization is selected, we ask you to take part in the following as part of the grant: 
    • Sign and submit grant letter and agreement by deadline
    • Provide relevant information for public communications, marketing, and promotion of the initiative
    • Participate in an onboarding conversation in February 2027, introductory meetings with mentors, consultants, and community partners
    • Facilitated group sessions to develop your capacity-building implementation plan
    • Interim progress updates and project reflections. 

  • Throughout the grant period, we’ll ask for your participation in data collection and reporting to help show impact and change over time. Program information, including data and any stories shared during the grant period may be used by the Creative Confluence Fund for evaluation, reporting and communication.

  • During the duration of your active status as a grant recipient, we ask that you recognize ArtsKC, Charlotte Street, and Hall Family Foundation publicly in your promotional materials and programs in a manner consistent with your policy of acknowledging other donors. ArtsKC, Charlotte Street, and Hall Family Foundation respectfully request to use your organization’s name and any photos you are willing to provide in our promotional materials and online.

  • Please notify ArtsKC staff in writing of any major changes in leadership, programs, or operations as described in your grant application. Updates to contact information are also necessary to stay in contact and to mail checks to the appropriate address.
